Earrings are
believed to have originated in western
Asia in about 3000 BC the simple hoop and more elaborate
pendant. Customary at the time everyday use of
earrings has been well documented too thanks of
everlastings images on
coins, vase paintings and tera-cotta
figures
In
the early 20th century the advent of a screw fitting to
clamp earring to ear
(clip-on) led this type of
no-piercing necessary
earring very popular.
Art
Deco came into vogue in the 1920?s
earrings made in this style were characterized by
straight, angular designed, long
chandelier earrings were also favorites.
Earrings were
completely revolutionized in the 1930s with the invention of the
clip-on. The new clip fitting secured
earrings more snuggly than screw-ons and consequently
compact clip-ons became the earring
of choice for the next several decades.
Earrings came a long
way in the 1950s they were light and aerodynamic.
Earrings would move. In the 1960s the
earrings was worn for fun or were signs of freedom to
express one self all over. There were different textures with
gold which involved melting it down under controlled
temperatures. Also in the 1960?s another stage or evolution of
earrings took place. There were
earring worn exclusively during the day and
other earrings just worn at night. The day
time earrings were light and not as elegant
or expensive as the night time wear
earrings
